The City Science Lab at the University of Klagenfurt (CSL-AAU) builds bridges between research and urban society in order to actively contribute to Klagenfurt’s climate neutrality.

The EU Mission Label of Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt is the only Austrian city to be part of the EU mission “100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030” – and has been awarded the EU Mission Label as one of a few European cities.
The five fields of action of the CSL-AAU
The CSL-AAU focuses on five key areas of action that are particularly relevant at the interface between the EU’s Climate and Cities missions – and are also closely linked to the university’s main areas of research:

The CSL-AAU uses innovative methods and participatory approaches to answer these questions together with citizens and decision-makers. Digital platforms and workshops enable active participation. With the help of data analysis, mapping, visualization, and storytelling techniques, scenarios are developed and concrete solutions for tackling the climate crisis are worked out.
